This is ideal for those who have already completed training or
certification in another industry such as interior design, re-design,
professional housekeeping, coaching, or other related fields. This
class is also designed for those who already have the necessary
business skills but need to bring new life into an existing business,
need help marketing their business, or perhaps refining their client
relations skills. This two day course puts the emphasis on classroom
training with in-depth analysis of specially selected case studies
and includes eight hour of hands-on work with an experienced Professional
Organizer on an individually selected client project.

- A Complete Industry Overview – Learn about
the scope of the industry, potential market segments, who’s
who, and a general industry outlook.
- Organizer’s Express Business Manual™ –
business tips, photos, charts, comparisons, and working aids all
designed to put you in command of your new and improved revenue
stream.
- Business Forms on CD – A complete set of
all the business forms you will need to get your business operational.
These forms are fully customizable with your information, your
logo design and contact information.
- A Complete Resource Guide – You will receive
a complete list of resources that will help make your transition
into the world of self-employment easier.
- Hands on Training – Eight hours of On-The-Job
training as you move out to a job site for a hands-on session
working with a client. You will implement the skills you acquired
in the classroom in a working environment with an experienced
Professional Organizing Consultant as your assistant in a crew
setting. You will learn the art of selling Professional Organizing
services, estimating project timelines, and how to implement Signature
Styles.
- Certificate of Completion – While there is
no official certification program for this industry, this course
and its contents are specifically designed with certification
in mind. The content of the course is an expansion of the Core
Competency Outline as proposed by NAPO.
- Continuing Support – This mentoring program
is designed to help you get over the rough spots and connect you
with other Professional Organizing Consultants in your area. You
will have ninety days of continuing support as well as periodic
updates to your Organizer’s Express Manual so that you will
stay in tune with industry trends and common practices.
- Add A Business Plan – A customized Business Plan
can be added to this package for an additional charge of $925.00.
The plan must be ordered at least two weeks prior to the commencement
of the class and teleconferences of at least four hours will be
required to collect the data to customize the plan for your market,
your competition and your areas of specialization.
Agenda
Day One
- Industry Overview – An introduction to
NAPO and the beginnings of Organizing as a profession; a close
look at the industry's specializations; the National Study Group
for Chronic Disorganization and how it can impact your business;
and the Characteristics of a Professional Organizing Consultant.
Tour through the NAPO and NSGCD website and surf the internet
during class to learn who’s who.
- Entrepreneurship – An evaluation of
your entrepreneur skills. Discussion will focus on what is working
and where improvements can be made.
- Business Plan An in depth view of a sample
plan for a Professional Organizer. If you have a plan you can
easily adapt goals and strategies into your plan. If you don’t
have a plan, you will learn about each element of a plan and how
to write a dynamite plan.
- Getting Started – The “toolbox”
of essential skills necessary to make your business venture a
success. You will look at time management, workflow controls,
office set-up, networking, strategic alliances, billing, accounting,
collections, and other essential administrative details necessary
to any business operation.
- Hands-On Training – Work at a client
jobsite with an experienced Professional Organizer in a crew setting.
You will have the opportunity to meet with the client and negotiate
the contract, sell the service, conduct a needs assessment, estimate
project timelines and implement turn-key solutions.
Day Two
- Getting Started (Cont’d) – Business skills
are once again the focus with such topics as Liability and Safety
issues, setting appointments, contract negotiation, conducting
a needs assessment, NAPO Code of Ethics, and documenting client
progress
- Client Relations – Learn techniques that will
help you improve customer satisfaction and foster a referral base.
- Hands-On Training – Implement organizing solutions
based on day one assessment. Learn about crew dynamics and client
relation topics.
- Final Project Wrap Up – You will then
return to the classroom to finish up with a final wrap-up session
and questions and answers. Certificates will be presented.
