3 Days
This class is a condensed three day version of the Business Development
Training Program 5-Day with the same manual, the same class content
(except for the Business Plan which may be purchased separately)
and the same extras condensed into a three-day version. This is
a perfect class for those who would like to take the full version
but have time restraints; already have a business established in
a related field and want to add an extra revenue stream; or who
already have a Professional Organizing business but would like an
in-depth view of how to earn more.
What You Get
- A Complete Industry Overview – Learn about the
scope of the industry, potential market segments, who’s
who, and a general industry outlook.
- Deluxe Manual – A Deluxe
Edition of the Business Development Training Program Manual™
with over 120 pages of information, photos, charts, comparisons
and resources all designed to put you in command of your new business.
- Forms on CD – A complete set of all the business
forms you will need to get your business operational. These forms
are fully customizable with your business name, your logo design
and contact information.
- A Complete Resource Guide – You will receive
a complete list of resources that will help make your transition
into the world of self-employment easier.
- Hands on Training – You will engage
in 12+ hours of on-site training that will give you the critical
experiences in applying the skills learned in the classroom to
an actual project. You will perform tasks such as conducting the
needs assessment, negotiating the contract, estimating project
timelines and applying behavior modification techniques in a crew
setting with an experienced Professional Organizer as your assistant.
- Certificate of Completion – While there is not
an official certification program for this industry, this course
and its contents are specifically designed with certification
in mind and the content of the course is an expansion of the Core
Competencies developed by the National Association of Professional
Organizers.
- Continuing Support – This mentoring program
is designed to help you get over the rough spots and connect you
with other Professional Organizing Consultants in your area. You
will have six months of continuing support from America’s
Most Organized™ staff and you will also receive periodic
updates to your Business Development Training Manual so that you
will stay in tune with industry trends and common practices.
- Add A Business Plan – A customized Business Plan
can be added to this package for an additional charge of $925.00.
The plan must be ordered at least two weeks prior to the commencement
of the class.
Agenda
Day One
Your day will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. and
will consist of nearly equal parts of classroom and Hands-On training.
In the classroom you will cover:
- Industry Overview – a look at the National
Association of Professional Organizers, the industry’s national
association and an in depth overview on how becoming a member
can be beneficial to you and NAPO. An overview of the beginnings
and current outlook of the Professional Organizing Industry and
a tour via the web of who’s who in the industry. Lastly,
an introduction to Chronic Disorganization, how to recognize the
condition in your clients, and how to determine if that client
base is for you.
- Entrepreneurship – The characteristics
commonly associated with an entrepreneur, why businesses succeed
and why some businesses fail, and how your personal attributes
fit in. By the end of this section you will know your job description
as a Professional Organizer.
- Business Plan – Learn about each element
of a Business Plan and understand the necessity of writing one
as a blueprint for the success of your business.
- Getting Started – The “toolbox”
of essential skills necessary to make your business venture a
success. You will look at time management, workflow elements,
networking, strategic alliances, billing, accounting, collections,
and other essential administrative details necessary to any business
operation.
Day Two
Once again you will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue to 8:00 p.m.
in both the classroom and at the Hands-On Project Classroom topics
for the second day will include:
- Getting Started (Cont’d) – Business skills are
once again the focus with such topics as Liability and Safety
issues, setting appointments, contract negotiation, conducting
a needs assessment, NAPO Code of Ethics, Client Relations and
documenting client progress
- Client Relations – Though client relations
issues are addressed throughout the course, a special session
is designated to look at case studies provided by the NSGCD.
- Hands-On Project – The project is carried
forward with additional emphasis on teamwork, behavior modification,
client relations, special issues and considerations.
Day Three
The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Project site with any final
wrap up to the project. You will then return to the classroom to
finish up with a final wrap-up session and questions and answers.
Certificates will be presented and you will be dismissed no later
than 5:00 p.m.
